Males are remarkable courting various rituals that the females would eat. Males of most species survive a few matings and die from other causes before they would be eaten by the female. Females of gossamer fibers produce cocoons egg, each of which may contain hundreds of eggs. Females of many species care for their young, for example, it is carried with them or sharing food. A small portion of the species is social and creates a common cobwebs, which may serve a few to 50,000 individuals. Social behavior ranges from cautious tolerance to the joint hunting and food sharing. Although most spiders live for more than two years, tarantulas in captivity can live up to 25 years.
